Journaling to reduce stress
Welcome back,

Yesterday I talked about how stress affects our health. We all have stress, it is part of life but when it is constant it can affect our health so we want to be aware of how much we have daily and keep it at a manageable level.  We want to spend most of our time in the parasympathetic nervous system. This is where our healing is done.  Our thoughts have a huge influence on which system we are operating in, so we want to process our negative thoughts to our benefit.

We do not want to bury our thoughts as then they never really go away then they just sit there and cause problems beneath the surface. A great way to process thoughts is journaling as it is private and can be a safe way to be honest with yourself as you process. Just grab a notebook and write away, or draw if that is a better way for you to process.  Start where you are and work it out until you are able to release the negative and are at a place of peace.

For example let’s say a friend stood you up. You might start with something like I am so angry that Susan canceled our plans, I am angry because I really wanted to spend time with her and it makes me sad that we were not able to, I am sad because I enjoy her company. I like Susan she is my good friend. I forgive Susan and look forward to spending time with her soon.

Of course that is a simple example you would obviously use your words and emotions and it may take a lot more words, but the idea is to release the negative so it does not fester and cause dis-ease in our bodies.

A great way to work through the emotions is to add an essential oil to the process, inhaling or diffusing,  as essential oils cross the blood brain barrier and are able to help us with the emotional side of healing. The constituents of the oils can help us relax and give us courage to face our true feelings.
