Walking to reduce stress
In my previous posts we talked about how we want to focus on keeping our bodies in the rest and digest nervous system so our bodies can heal.

When our stress level is too high we are in the fight and flight system and our wellness is at risk.

There are a many of benefits to walking for 30 minutes a day.

Lowers the risk of chronic disease
                                         Lowers the risk of Alzheimer’s
                                         Lowers colon cancer risk
                                         Reduces lower back pain
                                         Helps maintain weight
Strengthens your legs, hips, hamstrings and quads
Works your arms and shoulder muscles
                                         Improves blood pressure
                                         Improves your fitness

Today we want to focus on the fact that it alleviates depression and reduces anxiety, which helps manage your stress level.

The best way for this is if you walk alone or with someone in silence. We often are so busy we do not take time to be alone to process our thoughts.

TV, social media and even music are often playing in the background which can be good, but we need a quiet time to mediate, pray or just dwell on our thoughts.

Are you a regular walker?
